Auditions are set to be held in Dublin this weekend to select the very first Irish voice to be used on video doorbells, reports Breaking News.
Home security firm Ring will be holding try-outs both online and at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre over the weekend.
The Quick Replies feature will become available on all Ring Video Doorbells in Ireland early next year, reports Breaking News.
Ring’s Quick Replies function like a voice-based answering machine for your front door. When activated through the Ring app, visitors pressing the doorbell will hear a chosen message and can leave a voice note in response.
Auditions in the Irish language are also encouraged, using the following line: “Dia dhuit! NÃ féidir linn an doras a oscailt faoi láthair, ach más mian leat teachtaireacht ghearr a fhágáil is féidir leat é sin a dhéanamh anois,” reports Breaking News.
A study conducted for the campaign found that 55 per cent of people in Ireland say they’re proud of their accent and wouldn’t want to change it.
Among Dubliners, 27 per cent stated they favour their own accent over any other accent in Ireland, reports Breaking News.
