Australia to unprecedentedly lockdown State of Victoria from other States as coronavirus spreads

Australia is set to close off the state of Victoria from the rest of the country, authorities have announced, declaring unprecedented measures to combat a worrying increase in coronavirus cases.

For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began, the border between the two most populous Australian states, Victoria and New South Wales, will close at midnight tomorrow, the government has announced.

Victoria is home to more than 6.6 million people but its State authorities announced that a further 127 new cases of covid-19 had been found in Melbourne, including a group in apartments in the city centre.
