Veteran actor Geoffrey Rush has won a record $2.9m in damages in his ongoing defamation case against the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The Daily Telegraph had published a front-page article back in November 2017, claiming that Rush had engaged in ‘inappropriate behaviour’ towards actress Eryn Jean Norvill during a production of King Lear. Rush vehemently denied the allegations.
The settlement marks a new record for any defamation payout so far.
