The out-of-control bushfires have been raging for months at this stage and authorities are saying that it’s still far from over.

“Whilst it was a very long and – in parts of New South Wales – difficult night, we’re relieved this morning that no lives have been lost and no substantial property damage,” The New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters in Australia on Sunday.

Authorities say that cooler temperatures and slower winds are helping them fight certain areas of the fires but that various so-called “mega blazes” are still burning along the Victoria/NSW border.

Fire brigade officers say that they need hundreds of thousands of millimetres of rainfall to make a significant difference.
