If you be happen to be a fan of hit comic book movies you could be in for a treat, as it is reported that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are in talks to create an Avengers and Spider-Man crossover film.
It is reported that the two companies have met recently to discuss the possibility of developing a film together which would see Peter Parker join the team of superheroes.
Hardcore Fans of the comics would know that Spider-Man frequently appeared alongside The Avengers in the popular series of Marvel comics, However Marvel Studios sold the film rights to the ‘Spidey’ franchise a number of years before the global success of the Box Office smash ‘The Avengers’.
Entertainment Weekly reports, that the two companies are in “delicate preliminary conversations.” Â Although it’s thought that it’s not the first time that discussions have taken place, with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ director Marc Webb stating that previous efforts to develop a joint project had proved fruitless.
Meanwhile Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield is reportedly keen to star in the crossover, as he sparked rumors that a collaboration could happen earlier this year. Garfield was quoted saying: “I would love that. I know that the fans would love that, the fans of the Marvel universe … the more the merrier, the bigger the better.”
The news comes after the recent announcement that there is plans of other shared universe films for Spider-Man such as the female-led ‘Venom’ and ‘The Sinister Six’, these movies are set to be released in 2016
