
Authorities in the Bahamas have confirmed that a total of seven people have died following Hurricane Dorian.
In an announcement the island’s Prime Minister Hubert Minnis confirmed that the death toll has risen and further casualties are expected in the coming days.
The news comes after the devastating hurricane swept across the islands in recent days with winds reaching 233kph causing considerable damage to homes and businesses in the region.
It is expected that the powerful hurricane will move towards the South East coast of America within the next 36 hours.
Although the hurricane has been down graded to a category two storm a number of residents in Florida and North Carolina have been told to prepare for the worst and evacuate their homes immediately.
