Fine Gael TD Maria Bailey has been removed as candidate from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in the next General Election it has been revealed.
Ms Bailey who came in for strong criticism after the SwingGate fiasco earlier this year confirmed the news in a tweet this evening.
In the Tweet Ms Bailey said she was “deleted as a candidate for the next general election”.
The decision was apparently made following a meeting by the Fine Gael National Executive Council this evening.
Ms Bailey added that she was disappointed by the decision and stated that she had hoped to move on from the SwingGate matter after a sanction was imposed earlier this year.
