A 62-year-old man woke up in hospital to discover that one of his testicles was missing.
The man, who has not been named, attended Furness General Hospital in Cumbria, UK, for what he thought was routine surgery to drain some fluid from his scrotal area. The man claims that surgeons left a drain inside his testicle for 24h, causing an infection that forced him to be rushed back to hospital two days later.
After waking up from anesthesia, he realized that his right testicle was gone. According to the surgeons who treated him, the excision was necessary because of the infection.
The man is suing for negligence and malpractice, claiming that he was never told what was going to happen the second time he went into hospital.
