Bambie Thug accuses Eurovision organisers of not supporting “them” in row over Israel

Due to a dispute with Israel, Bambie Thug has claimed that the organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest are not standing by them, reports RTE.

After performing Doomsday Blue at the Grand Final on Saturday night, Macroom, County Cork-based Bambie came in sixth place with a total of 278 points (a combination of jury and public votes).

They are the first Irish performer since Ryan O’Shaughnessy in 2018 to get past the semifinals, reports RTE.

According to comprehensive televoting data available on the Eurovision website, Ireland awarded Israel 10 points, with Croatia coming in second in the Irish public vote. Israel did not receive any points from the Irish jury.

Israel scored 0 points in the public and jury voting, leaving Ireland with no points.

Speaking at a press conference following the Grand Final Bambie said: “So now that I’m free. I can talk about everything right? We brought it [rule break] up to the EBU. They said they would follow up. They waited to the last minute, we still haven’t gotten a statement back to us, [they] allowed us to be scapegoats, allowed us to be the spokesperson for standing up for ourselves,” reports RTE.
