Barking up the wrong tree: Taoiseach reveals how he recently received a black eye

There were strange scenes earlier this week when the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his fellow cabinet members unveiled their action plan for 2017.

Many eyebrows were raised when Mr Kenny attended the event to address the onlooking crowd about the Government’s latest strategy to provide 45,000 in 2017, although many were supposed to be focused on the detailed plan, everyone was left rather confused as to why the Taoiseach had a black eye.

Well now it seems we have an explanation as the Fine Gael leader recently revealed he that he suffered the injury after he got hit with a branch whilst walking around the countryside in his home country of Mayo.

According to the Irish Daily Mail, a spokesperson for Mr Kenny said: “He got a belt of a tree branch while out walking the fields, as he does.”

Although there was no serious harm done, that didn’t stop many on social media taking a shot at Mr Kenny’s unfortunate incident with many rather cleverly suggesting that the bruising blow came from Gerry Adams who recently had a few choice words for the Taoiseach about the possibility of a future coalition.
