The BBC presenter Danny Baker has been fired over an alleged racist tweet aimed towards the new Royal baby, Archie.

Baker posted a black and white photo that had a man and woman holding hands with a chimpanzee dressed in a suit with a caption “The Royal baby leaving the hospital”.

Immediately, people started posting that it was a racist joke and that it was too harsh.

Baker deleted the image but has defended the joke claiming that it was the suit that the monkey was wearing was the joke itself, not the fact that it was a monkey wearing it.

He said that he didn’t make the connection that the new Royal baby is partly African American due to his mother’s mixed race and was only joking about how rich it is.

The head of the BBC has said that Baker is a good presenter but will no longer be doing his weekly show as a result of his tweet.
