The BBC was forced into a frankly embarrassing string of edits today after they implied in one of their pieces that McGregor is British.
The original article referred to the Dubliner as the “first UFC champion from the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland”.
People wasted no time to voice their anger via Twitter, and the BBC report was edited first as “from the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland”, and finally to “from the Republic of Ireland or United Kingdom”.
It’s all clear now so.
