Hospitals around the country are reporting that many people are presenting with fractures or broken bones at their emergency departments.
It’s understood that the injuries have been unfortunately a direct response to the inclement weather the country has endured. Heavy snow has played a major factor, but icy conditions as the thaw has started has seen people slip, fall and tumble their way into hospital.
One doctor told The Liberal:
It’s mainly people doing very ordinary things, like trying to shovel snow from their paths or driveways. We had one woman present with a broken arm simply by slipping on her way to put some rubbish in the bin. It’s very very slippy out there and we would advise people to literally try and do nothing unless they have to until the very bad and dangerous snow and icy conditions pass.
