Batten down the hatches – Met Eireann have issued a status orange weather warning as winds of up to 75mph are expected to batter the country

A severe warning has been issued by Met Eireann this morning. Winds of 75mph will batter the country for the the next 24 hours minimum.

A status orange alert has been sent to all media outlets which Met Eireann come into effect immediately from 9am this morning.

The worst of the weather is the West for the morning but the Storm will make its way across the entire country, including the North and South, finishing in the East this afternoon.

Temperatures remain typical tropically-stormy with highs of 12 – 14 degrees.

Met Eireann commented:
“weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas”
