Across the country and in the UK, people are being urged to prepare for ‘Storm Emma’ that’s set to bring Siberian temperatures and possibly significant snow fall.
Now there are reports of shelves emptying in popular Irish supermarkets as people stock up for the impending onslaught.
This week could see temperatures in the country to drop to -5 degrees Celsius and there is a orange weather alert for snow and ice in the counties of Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.
This is the most significant weather event to hit the country since Storm Ophelia last October essentially shut the country down and claimed the lives of three people and left hundreds of thousands without power.
