Snooker in Europe is thriving tonight after Belgium’s Luca Brecel beat Mark Selby in a thrilling final in the Crucible in Sheffield.
The 28-yr-old hadn’t reached the second round in 11 years, but this year he marched through the tournament, even beating one of the all time greats in Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Mark Selby played his part in the final however by scoring a maximum 147 last night and almost coming back to even the score on Monday night.
Brecel becomes the first continental European player to win the Snooker World Championship.
