Bicycle delivery drivers express fear on social media of violence from youths in Dublin




A number of delivery bicycle drivers in Dublin have expressed fear on social media of violence from youths.

There is allegedly a backstory to this fear that spans back around two years where some youths attacked delivery bicycle drivers as they were trying to deliver food.

Unfortunately both youths and drivers got tarred with the same brush from opposing sides and thus a tension grew between the two factions within the city, especially at night.

A number of delivery drivers took to social media over the past day to express their fear that they feel they could be the target for violence from youths while they’re working. It’s understood that some drivers don’t feel safe going to certain areas in the city after dark for fear of being attacked.

Although the vast majority of youths are decent youngsters who are just enjoying life and causing no harm, there have been incidents over the past number of years where youths have attacked deliver bicycle drivers while they were on their bikes attempting to deliver food.

It’s understood that deliver drivers took to social media over the last number of days to alert each other in forums of possible danger and that they’re going to travel in numbers to specific areas where and when possible there a number of delivers to make.

Communities are aware of the past tension and hope that things ease over the coming weeks and months and that youths can enjoy their spare time meaningfully and safely and delivery bicycle drivers can work freely and safely.
