Supporters of Black Lives Matter in the United States have begun targeting the statues of America’s founding fathers and others, expanding their targets beyond simply Confederate statues.
Among the statues torn down across the United States are included George Washington, America’s first president who the revolution to victory over the British and Thomas Jefferson, America’s third President and author of the country’s Declaration of Independence.
War memorials from the Civil War to Second World war have been attacked and defaced in numerous cities including in Washington DC and even, ironically, the Lincoln Memorial erected in honour of the President who freed the slaves, was itself daubed with graffiti.
As these attacks and other incidents of violence increase leftists belong to Antifa and Black Lives Matter remain in control of a number of blocks in Seattle and calls for defunding and even abolishing the police and the justice system itself grow louder and gain more mainstream traction.
