Blanchardstown residents ‘concerned’ after plans are submitted to build a three-storey “super Mosque” in the area

Blanchardstown in West Dublin could be about to get a massive new Mosque.

A submission has been made to Fingal County Council for planning permission a sprawling new Islamic community centre that would include a three-storey Mosque and a private school.

The area of the proposed re-development is adjacent to Blanchardstown IT and Corduff and was formerly property of the HSE. The Mosque, if built, will be one of the largest in Ireland and will incorporate many amenities to cater for those of Muslim faith.

The ambitious project is expected to cost many tens of millions of euro and some residents of the area have raised questions as to whom would be funding the Islamic complex.
