As if things weren’t bad enough for the people of Ukraine, Bono has gone out to sing for them.

The U2 frontman said the conflict in Ukraine was really a one-man war as he surveyed the devastation of a city occupied by Russian forces for weeks. His bandmate The Edge argued that “musicians, poets and writers” play an important role in telling the story of the war.

Bono said he trusts young Russians to topple President Putin during a visit to a war-torn city in Ukraine after a surprise concert in kyiv.

In an apparent reference to Putin claiming he invaded Ukraine to “de-Nazify” the country, the U2 frontman said the conflict was “really a one-man war.”

He told Sky News that “younger people in Russia will know what’s going on” and has faith “in the younger people in Russia to throw this man” out of office.
