The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has issued a stark warning this evening saying that the new variant found in the UK may have a more mortality rate than previously thought.
Speaking at press briefing, the Prime Minister said there is some evidence that the new variant associated with a higher degree of mortality.
However Johnson did say that current studies show that vaccines remain effective against the new variant.
Meanwhile Sir Patrick Vallance, said with the initial variant 10 out of 1,000 people over the age of 60 would sadly die if they contracted the virus.
However with this new variant the numbers are 13 to 14 people out 1,000.
