Boxer Kellie Harrington claims to be in a “dark place” after snowflakes called out her immigration post

Boxing hero Kellie Harrington says she is in a “dark place” after controversial comments she made last year about immigration, reports The Mirror.

The Olympic gold medalist says she is now very careful about every word that comes out of her mouth after facing criticism over a tweet she posted last October.

The 33-yr-old boxing champion became emotional and held back tears as she revealed the emotional trauma she experienced as a result of the controversy.

She said: ā€œIā€™ve been in a bit of a dark place with it. Iā€™m just sad. Iā€™m sorry for the tweet I put up. It just happened. People say things without thinking about the consequences of it. And that was what happened,ā€ reports The Mirror.

Appearing in an interview with Off the Ball last March, the Olympian was asked about a controversial tweet she posted and deleted last October.

The tweet referred to the murder of a 12-year-old child in France.

In response, Boxer retweeted the video and added, “Very very sad.”

ā€œA powerful message from Eva Vlaardingerbroek. Our own leaders need to take a listen to this. She believes this is the 12th girl in France this year who has been killed by an immigrant […] and thatā€™s just France,ā€ she said, reports The Mirror.

She added: ā€œIā€™m so careful now about what comes out of my mouth. That never used to be the person I was. Iā€™m always cautious now of what I say. Even there, I was cursing, and then I was going, ā€˜Jesus, Iā€™d better not say Jesusā€™. Thatā€™s whatā€™s in my head now a lot of the time,ā€ reports The Mirror.
