A child, 14, who sustained burns on a Ryanair trip to Spain has been granted €6,000 in compensation, reports RTE.
Judge Michael Walsh was informed by Barrister Conor Kearney at the Circuit Civil Court that Luke Segovia had hot tea spilled on his left thigh when he was vacationing in Spain.
Speaking on behalf of Tiernan Solicitors, Mr. Kearney suggested the court accept a settlement offer of €6,000 and acknowledged that there might be problems in the case, reports RTE.
Several in-flight attendants would contest the suggestion that Luke was given the tea beaker without a cover.
Luke is a rugby and football player, and he informed Judge Walsh that Luke had medical attention in Spain and on the plane, reports RTE.
Upon his return to Ireland, his General Practitioner had carried on his therapy.
Luke, then eleven years old, filed a lawsuit against Ryanair via his mother, Aoife Segovia, of Sallins Pier, Sallins, County Kildare.
court Walsh approved the settlement offer, stating that in cases involving difficult legal problems, it was impossible to predict what a different court might find in the event that the matter went to trial, reports RTE.
