Boy, 7, left with a hole in his skull after being attacked by a man just metres away from his home

A 7 year old boy has been left seriously injured after he was attacked by a man aged in his 30s in California whilst walking home from a party.

According to The Daily Mail newspaper, the young boy Gavin Ludwick was left with a hole in his skull after his attacker threw rocks at him.

Police investigating the incident say little Gavin was found lying on the ground convulsing near his home in Desert Hot Springs, California.

It is understood that Gavin who has been in and out of consciousness since the attack, suffered severe swelling to his head and was left with major fractures to his skull.

Doctors treating the young boy say Gavin’s skull has been shattered beyond repair and he will require surgery to insert a metal plate in his skull.

Police investigating the case say a 32 year old man named Daniel Poulsen has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he was seen on CCTV throwing rocks at Gavin.

They added that they are currently trying to determine why Poulsen attacked the young boy, but so far their investigation has revealed that it was seemingly an unprovoked attack.
