Gardaí in Cork have begun an investigation after an 8-year-old boy was rushed to hospital following a road traffic incident on Friday evening.
It is understood the young boy was taken to hospital afrer he was struck by a car in Whitechurch, north of the city centre, at approximately 7.20pm last night.
Gardaí say the boy was taken to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
They also say the driver of the vehicle a woman aged in her 30s was uninjured in the incident.
