A boy in the UK has been expelled from school when he took a toy gun into a McDonalds restaurant and his friend allegedly shot pellets

According to the Metro, 12-year-old schoolboy Mitchell Pollard was permanently excluded over the incident, an action that his mother, Pauline Pollard described as “unfair” and “over the top”.

Mitchell is said to have taken a black and yellow toy gun into McDonalds.  He is then said to have given it to his friend who allegedly shot some pellets at other students.  His mother said that she felt the school was being too harsh with him and that her son had a mark on his record due to an previous “misunderstanding” over a comment he made during a class debate.

While the pupils were talking about what they would bring to a desert island, Mitchell is said to have joked that he would bring a set of scissors to “stab himself in the neck” as he would not want to be alone.  His mother said that a teach heard the remark but didn’t hear it properly and as a result she thought that it was a threat.

Pauline Pollard is now appealing the decision, having gathered together a number of excellent references for Mitchell, including one from a staff member in the McDonalds restaurant where the incident took place.

Meanwhile, police have cautioned against the risks of taking a toy gun anywhere in case anyone thinks it is the real thing.
