A brave teenager has received great praise after she somehow managed to fight off her attacker whilst she was walking through a public park.
The girl aged 13 has been praised for her swift actions by police in Leigh after she managed to escape the predator who grabbed her at Westleigh Park in the town which is located in the Greater Manchester area of Northern England.
According to local reports the young girl managed to evade her attacker after he grabbed her from behind whilst she was walking through the park at approximately 9am this morning.
It is understood the teenager then fled home to her parents who then alerted police about the individual who is described as being tall, white, and of medium build and around 30 years-old, with short dark hair and a scruffy beard
The girls attacker is also described as having muscular arms and a big nose.
Meanwhile a spokesman for Wigan Borough police have said they are currently investigating the incident but have since commended the girl for her brave actions saying: “Thankfully this brave young girl was able to fight off the man and run away to safety. She has obviously been left frightened by this experience and my thoughts are with her and her family.”
“We have launched an investigation and are very keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen a man matching this description acting suspiciously in the area.”
