It was a busy night for six units of firefighters from Counties Sligo and Leitrim last night as they bravely tackled a large gorse fire on Killery Mountain at Ballintogher.
The widespread blaze which raged across vegetation and forestry land reportedly broke out at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon and lasted into the late hours.
It is believed the brave firefighters successfully managed to protect a number of homes in the area.
According to local media reports four brigades from Sligo and two from Leitrim attended the scene and they were assisted by a coastguard helicopter.
