Authorities in the US state of Virginia, have confirmed that 11 people have been killed and 6 others have been after a worker opened fire at a Government building in Virginia Beach.
It is understood the man who has been since shot dead opened fire in the building shortly after 4pm local time.
Police say the man was a disgruntled employee at city’s public works department and began shooting indiscriminately at other workers in the building which is located next to the city’s mayor’s office.
It is believed that the gunman was shot dead after he opened fire at police officers responding to the incident.
Authorities say one officer was injured in the shooting.
It is not yet known what the man’s motives were for the attack, but police say investigations are currently ongoing.
