The nightmare job losses that were feared for HP Inc plant at Leixlip in Co Kildare have become a reality this morning.
Management at the facility addressed the 500 staff there this morning in relation to its future and said that the plant is to close before 2018 with all 500 jobs gone.
The two branches of the business are involved in research and development with HP Inc building traditional PC and printing business, while Hewlett-Packard Enterprise concentrating on industrial grade servers, networking equipment, software and services.
The closure will be the biggest jobs loss since the so-called recovery started in 2014.
