
An investigation is currently underway following the death of a young girl after an assault in County Wexford on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to a house in New Ross at approximately 11:45 PM.
The girl, who is said to be just 8-yrs-old, was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where she unfortunately passed away from her injuries in the early hours of the morning. A woman and a man, both in their 30s, are also receiving treatment at University Hospital Waterford for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, reports RTE.
Gardaà have issued an appeal for information regarding the incident. They indicate that they are following a specific line of inquiry and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation. The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
