A 5.6 magnitude earthquake, which has been described as one of the strongest in years, has hit the US state of Oklahoma in the past hour.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the quake was in the north of the state, 14km (8.7 miles) northwest of the town of Pawnee, which has a population of over 2,000 people, while it was recorded at a shallow depth of 4.1 miles (6.6 km).
