Ben Gilroy has finally been released from prison this evening.
The Navan man was greeted by his wife and kids after he spent a number of weeks in Mountjoy after being given a 3-month-sentence in mid January.
The sentence was handed down on January 16th. in the High Court for “contempt of court” relating back to community service that Ben said was unjust due to it being in relation to a civil matter.
Ben Gilroy is the best known anti-eviction activist in Ireland.
It’s understood that he’ll be back in the High Court tomorrow afternoon.
