BREAKING: ASTI vote in favour of industrial action over Covid-19 measures

Members of the Association of Secondary School Teachers Ireland have voted in favour of industrial action following concerns over Covid-19 measures.

According to RTE News, the association voted in favour of industrial action up to and including strike action.

RTE News reports that teachers have raised concerns about a number of Covid-19 related issues and have put forward the prospect of industrial action unless the Government moves to address their concerns.

Although it is believed that the majority of teachers want schools to remain open, they have become concerned over a number of key issues including Covid-19 testing and what is considered a close contact.

It is also reported that the association are calling for a rapid testing system to be put in place for both students and teachers as well proper arrangements for those who are deemed at high risk.
