A Status Red wind warning, initially covering counties Carlow, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford, is set to be lifted at 10am. However, other regions will remain under red warnings for some time, which will gradually be downgraded to less severe alerts throughout the day.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has advised the public to stay safe by remaining indoors due to the storm’s extensive impact. According to ESB Networks, Storm Éowyn has broken records for the number of power outages. Extensive damage to electrical infrastructure is reported, with restoration efforts to begin as soon as conditions allow. Additionally, around 100,000 customers in Northern Ireland are also without power.

ESB says up to 715,000 properties are without power this morning, and that it could take them up to one week to fully restore power across the country.
