
At least one person has sadly been killed and up to 80 others have been badly injured after a car was driven into a crowd at a Christmas market in Germany.
It’s understood that a driver has been arrested following the incident in the eastern city of Magdeburg. At least 60-80 people have been severely injured.
Hospitals in the region are now preparing for a mass casualty event, according to a city spokesman, who added the initial assessment is that this was an attack.
Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said “the news suggests something bad” and that his thoughts are with “the victims and their families”, reports Sky News.
Weihnachtsmarkt Magdeburg has posted on Instagram warning people to leave the market immediately and allow emergency services to do their work.
