Tehran was rocked tonight by reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed. According to senior Israeli officials cited by Reuters and other outlets, Khamenei’s body was discovered under the rubble of his compound in Tehran following massive joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes. The 86-year-old cleric, who had ruled Iran since 1989, was reportedly targeted in a precision operation that destroyed key sites linked to the regime’s leadership and nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated there were “many signs” that Khamenei “is no longer,” describing the strike as a decisive blow against a leader he accused of global terrorism and threats to Israel. Multiple Israeli media sources, including The Jerusalem Post, confirmed the assassination claim, with officials asserting his death marks a pivotal moment for the Islamic Republic.

Iranian officials have not yet confirmed the reports. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier insisted Khamenei was alive “as far as I know,” though communications from Tehran remain disrupted amid ongoing strikes. The Supreme Leader’s death, if verified, could trigger intense power struggles within the regime and further escalate the regional war.
