The Department of Health has announced that it too was a the victim of a cyberattack similar to the ransomware attack on the Health Service Executive.
The Health Department has also shut down its systems and is working to restore its data safely.
In a statement, the department confirmed that it was the target of a ransomware attack late last week and has been working hard to resolve the problem that was officially announced last Thursday.
It’s understood that the cyber criminals posted a digital note demanding some $20 million ransom.
The National Cyber Security Centre, Interpol and Gardai are working on the issue.
