The hacker group suspected to be behind the HSE hack has reportedly demanded €16million in ransom to return stolen data and unlock servers.
It has recently emerged that the shady group might have had access to the HSE’s systems for the past 2 weeks. Some sources say that the organization’s IT system is based on a now grossly outdated Windows 7 operating system.
The hack has caused untold disruption to medical appointments, Covid-19-related activities, and many other hospital-related functions.
