The League of Ireland disciplinary committee has sanctioned Drogheda United following damage to Oriel Park’s facilities during their Premier Division match against Dundalk last Friday.
Drogheda supporters threw several flares onto the recently relaid artificial pitch, leaving multiple burn marks and causing substantial harm to the surface.
A 12-yr-old child was hit by one of the flares and suffered burns to his face.
Supporters from both sides clashed outside the stadium before kick-off.
Both Dundalk and Drogheda United condemned the events and committed to assisting gardaí with their ongoing investigations.
As a result, Drogheda United fans are barred from attending the club’s next four away matches: against Sligo Rovers on 7 March, St Patrick’s Athletic on 13 March, Derry City on 20 March, and Waterford on 10 April.
Additional penalties include a €15,000 fine and a prohibition on Drogheda supporters attending any matches at Oriel Park for the rest of the 2026 season.
