In breaking news this morning, Dublin’s fire brigade have confirmed that a fireman has been suspended from his role of fighting fires and helping protect the community for his participation in a skit traveller video posted to social media.
In almost a surreal level of disbelief, both the fireman and garda in the video have been suspended with rumours that the garda will actually lose his job entirely as a result of the video.
The suspensions come after a major complaint from pavee point and various other travellers that they weren’t happy with the videos and were demanding action be taken.
The video shows the garda in question responding to being “called out” for a Dublin fireman he’s due to have a charity white collar boxing match with.
The bout has raised some €50,000 for charity but could come at the expense of the men’s jobs.
The clip shows the garda responding to a fireman who pretend to pour urine over his face preparing for the fight. The garda, wearing a garda vest, responds by saying that he’ll end up kicking the bucket (of urine) that he splashed his face from.
Social media users have been reacting to the heavy-handed suspension by claiming that the two men were simply joking and that there was nothing offensive in the videos whatsoever.
