Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 listed hurricane is currently hammering the northwest Bahamas, and is literally hours away from beginning a potentially catastrophic, smashing up and down the Florida’s east coast
The hurricane may be pronounced to be a category 5 – the worst level it could be by the time it reaches landfall.
With dangerous storm surges, destructive winds and flooding rainfall, Matthew is expected to stretch into Georgia and South Carolina by the weekend.
Tropical storm force winds have begun to roll ashore on Florida’s east coast. Palm Beach International Airport has gusted as high as 50 mph so far.
Hurricane Matthew has already claimed the lives of 283 people in Haiti.
Florida Governor Rick Scott has said this storm is a “monster” and may have potential “devastating consequences”, “the roads are out, GET OUT, evacuate, evacuate, evacuate!”.
