Emergency services were called to the blaze at a property near Casla around 6am. The two were the only occupants of the detached bungalow in Gleann Mhac Muirinn, about 12km from Casla.
Three units from the County Galway Fire Service, including teams from Galway city and An Cheathrú Rua, responded to extinguish the fire.
A technical examination of the property will be conducted to determine the fire’s cause. The victims’ bodies will be taken to University Hospital Galway for post-mortem examinations later today.
