
A woman in her 60s has tragically died after being struck by a truck in Swords, Co. Dublin.
The fatal collision happened at around 12:30pm on Tuesday, at the junction of Church Road and Bridge Street.
Gardaà and emergency services rushed to the scene, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location. Her body has since been taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown for a postmortem examination.
The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination, with local diversions in operation.
Investigations remain ongoing. Gardaà are particularly appealing for witnesses, including the driver of a small silver hatchback that was travelling behind the truck on Church Road and then turned left onto Rathbeale Road (heading away from Swords) — the vehicle was not involved in the incident.
They are also requesting any dash-cam or camera footage from road users in the Church Road and Bridge Street area between 12:10pm and 12:40pm.
