A man remains in critical condition in Beaumont Hospital following a brutal assault in Dublin’s Temple Bar district. The attack unfolded on Cope Street in the early hours of Wednesday, around 12:30 a.m. The victim arrived on an e-scooter when two men set upon him, punching and kicking him repeatedly. They seized the e-scooter and struck him multiple times with it, leaving him unconscious on the ground. The assailants briefly left but returned shortly afterward to resume the attack, breaking his arm in the process.

Gardaí discovered the injured man unconscious and rushed him to hospital, where he continues to fight for his life with severe head and facial injuries. Authorities have been unable to identify him immediately due to the absence of personal items such as identification or bank cards, compounded by the extent of his facial trauma.

To aid identification efforts, investigators released an image of a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm: a blue and white flag accompanied by the Irish phrase “Ceol is Beatha,” translating to “music and life.” Two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s, were arrested on Friday evening and are currently detained for questioning at separate Dublin stations under relevant criminal justice provisions.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage from the Cope Street area between midnight and 1 a.m. that night to come forward to Pearse Street Garda Station or the confidential line.
