BREAKING: Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, star of top gun and batman forever, dies at 65

Val Kilmer, the celebrated actor known for his roles in *Top Gun*, *The Doors*, and *Batman Forever*, has passed away at 65. The Hollywood legend died on Tuesday in Los Angeles from pneumonia, a loss confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer.

The actor’s death comes after a years-long fight with throat cancer, diagnosed in 2014, which he had overcome, though it weakened his health. His daughter announced that pneumonia ultimately claimed his life, ending a career defined by versatility and magnetic presence. Kilmer first soared to fame as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in *Top Gun* (1986) alongside Tom Cruise, a role he reprised in the 2022 sequel *Top Gun: Maverick*, marking a touching career capstone.

Born in Los Angeles in 1959, Kilmer’s path to stardom included a lauded turn as Jim Morrison in *The Doors* (1991), earning critical acclaim, and donning the cape as Bruce Wayne in *Batman Forever* (1995). His portrayal of Doc Holliday in *Tombstone* (1993) remains a fan favorite, while his work in *Heat* (1995) showcased his ability to shine alongside Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. His 2021 documentary *Val*, narrated partly by his son, Jack, offered a raw glimpse into his life, cancer battle, and creative soul.

Tributes have flooded in from peers and admirers, with actor Josh Brolin calling him a “brave, creative firecracker” in a public statement. Kilmer’s health struggles, including a tracheostomy that changed his voice, were widely known, yet he remained a source of inspiration. He leaves behind his children, Mercedes and Jack, from his marriage to Joanne Whalley, which ended in 1996.

Kilmer’s legacy as a Juilliard-trained performer who fused leading-man charm with a character actor’s depth endures. His death marks the end of an era for one of Hollywood’s most distinctive and cherished talents.
