Zelensky will address both houses of the Dail this afternoon, starting at 2:55pm and will be broadcast live across RTE television and radio.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska, landed at Dublin Airport shortly before 11pm on Tuesday for his inaugural official visit to Ireland.
He was greeted on the tarmac by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Minister of State for European Affairs Thomas Byrne.
On Wednesday, President Zelensky will hold bilateral talks with the Taoiseach and pay a courtesy call on President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin.
In the afternoon, he will become the latest world leader to address a joint sitting of both houses of the Oireachtas (Dáil and Seanad) in Leinster House.
Extensive security measures are in place. Leinster House has been closed to all non-essential personnel, with journalists, political staff and officials instructed to work remotely. A full security sweep of the complex is underway. Similar checks have been conducted at Government Buildings, where a large viewing platform has also been erected.
The visit comes at a pivotal moment for Ukraine’s peace efforts. Taoiseach Micheál Martin has stated that his discussions with President Zelensky will focus on how Ireland can help ensure Ukraine negotiates from the strongest possible position.
