The Irish Government will arrange a charter flight to bring citizens home from the Middle East, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Helen McEntee.
She told RTÉ’s Six One News that officials will contact Irish people in the region tomorrow to arrange travel on a flight for approximately 280 passengers.
Ms McEntee described this as hopefully the first of several such flights. The flight is expected to depart from Oman, provided airspace remains open.
She explained that priority is being given to the most vulnerable individuals among the roughly 2,000 people who have reached out to the Department of Foreign Affairs’ crisis management centre seeking assistance to leave the Middle East.
