The Irish Ambassador to Greece Orla O’Hanrahan, has sadly confirmed that an Irishman caught up in the recent wildfires spreading across Greece has died.
According to RTÉ News, the man Brian O’Callaghan-Westropp sadly passed away after he and his wife Zoe Holohan were caught up in the fires.
It is understood the couple who got married last Thursday were on honeymoon in the coastal town of Mati.
In a brief statement to RTÉ News, Ms O’Hanrahan said she was deeply saddened by Mr O’Callaghan’s death and she offered her condolences to their families.
