BREAKING: Liverpool beat Tottenham to win UEFA Champions League

Liverpool have beaten Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to lift the UEFA Champions League crown.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have Mo Salah and Divock Origi to thank as Liverpool claim their sixth title in Europe’s top club competition.

In a game that was far from a classic, it was the men in red who were triumphant and capped off a memorable season.

The win which makes up for the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the Premier League, Liverpool fans were finally given something to cheer as two goals proved enough to put aside an underwhelming Tottenham side.

Liverpool were given the perfect start when they were awarded a questionable penalty when Sissoko handled a Mane cross.

Although Spurs will feel hard done by in relation to the penalty, Mo Salah showed no nerves and smashed home an early opener.

Spurs who had most of the first half possession were unable to carve out a clear cut chance and were left trailing at the break.

The second half saw Spurs up the tempo with Alli’s and Son looking a threat, however a real cutting edge was once lacking and Liverpool’s Allison dealt with a Alli’s shot with relative ease.

Liverpool sealed victory in the 87th minute when Origi tucked a second past Lloris after spurs failed to clear following a Liverpool corner.

Liverpool held on to take the spoils and claim their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
